' NOTES. (By our Special Reporter.) ' The Hurdles- field contained a fresh runner in Margo, who. however, gave a very poor display.,. Commotion was favorite in a good betting race, and after a good finish with the first dajs winner he prevailed by a. neck. . Curilla was again in th"rd place. Golden Grape made- tho running for a mile, but ho was .jumping very big and was !«■

trouble over the last part. Cast Iron ran right up to his first day's form, and Curilla will do better later on.

A very hot favorite in Pride of Chitha was unfurled! an 'the Moreton Hack Handicap, and the good tiling came off, but only after its backers had got the shock of tlicvr lives, for it caught the tapes and at the end of afurlong wa» in the rear. Berry, however, rode a cool- race and after a good run' in the straight he got up in time to win by a neck from Melfcrd. who was in front the whole way. St. Ewe was a. good third 1 , and will be heard of very shortly. Bonation ran badlv and; so did the much-raced Red Pennon. An inquiry linto the form of the winner was 'held' and the explanation was considered satisfactory. Bonny Riga: and Honesty, placegetters yesterday, were backed in that order for the Autumn Handicap. The latter and Fender set a very fast pace over the first part, and in the straight Scotch Melody, who had always been handy, came along and! won a very fast run race by a neck. Snapdragon wa«close up third, after getting a clear run on the fence at the liome turn. Honesty was beaten by Fender, worrying her over the first part. Bonny Rigg covered a lot of extra groun-1 after getting badly away. First Glance ran. a: good race under her big weight, and finished fourth, with Bonny Ri'gg and' Specialfonn alongside her. Don. Francisco was tailed off the wihole way. The time is a record for the course. Hard: Shot was the only withdrawal from the Juvenile Handicap, leaving 11 runners. Bellshire and Down were backed l in that order. At the start Holiday led off from Bellshire and HnJ'ina, while Ardenvohr was left. Rounding the bend, Bellshire led, with Down moving up. In the straight the Ricearton gelding was hard ridden to overhaul Bellshire, and; Fiery Cross, a. rank outsider, also appeared, on the scene and split the pair. Halina. who was sharpened up by the run on the first day, was close up fourth. Then came Marsa and Thaddeus. Several of the runners were heavily backed in the Winchmore Welter, but a rank outsider in Countess Tolstoi took charge .at'the, barrier rise and led the whole way, winning easily in fast time. Trireme and Sir- Hamilton were in the places, and Medallist was next. Several of tlie starters had their chances spoilt at the rise of the barrier, particularly Glenowl and Wild Pilgrim. . The Selma- Trot was won by Lothario (F. Holmes), who was on the limit and led the whole way. Soda, the second horse, was carried -wide at the turn, and then, did well to finish second. Lady Lyons was close up third, GeneraT Link,- the favorite, performejd badly. 0.1.C. was called off, and his rider was fined £5 for starting before ti lTle - ~ „ i In the concluding event Medley and Dinner Gong both carried over four figures on the machine. The start was delayed a considerable time by Dinner- Gong, who was eventually left standing. Marvelite and Sveabqrg carried on the running to the straight entrance, where Peg and Medley joined in and, after a brilliant finish, the pair dead-heated. Marvelite was third.
