Mr Rawson, S.M., to-day convicted the managers of the-Huntly and Taupiri mines for failing to. cause reasonable precautions to be taken to secure the safety of their mm and. also I'cr failing to appoint sufficient iinder. viewei's to cause the mine to be inspected daily. He-lined ths-'in £.3 Is ami costs on the. first charge, and convicted thfin without.line on'the second charge. The decision affects every coal mine in the Dominion. To the Taupiri Company it involves an additional expense cf £SOOO yearly.
