John Dalton, Alexander Robinson, and Wm. Tyler were found guilty of assaulting; 'Richard' Hubert Bennett, with intent to rob, and were remanded for sentence. Christchurch, May 11. At the Supreme Court to-day William George Maslin was changed with indecent exposure, alleged to have been committed! in; the Botanical' Gardens' on .March 4th. The case was unfinished when the Court adjourned. Palmerston North, May 11. The Supreme Court opened to-day befor Mr Justice Hcskin. Albert Simpkin, a jockey, appeared on a charge of having presented a false £5 totalis*tor ticket purporting to be on Sir Fisher in the sixth race on the first day of the Feilding Easter races. The ticket was really issued on a. horse with, the same number in the third I race. The accused said the ticket was ' given h:m by a friend, and he did not know that it was not genuine. A verdict of not guilty was returned. J. N. Bell, an old man. -was charged with indecently assaulting and carnally knowing a, girl fourteen years of age. Evidence for the prosecution shib-wed that prisoner lured the< girl to a house, when he committed the acts complained of. No evidence was entered for the defence, and the jury returned ". verdict of guilty of indecent assault. Prisoner' asked 'for mercy on account of old age, remarking that he would be in his grave in twelve months. He asked ids Honor not to send him to gaol to die. He was sentenced to 3A years' hard' labor.
