WELLINGTON. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Wellington, November 28, 1862. At this season wool—its results and prospects engrosses much attention. So far our returns are hardly sufficiently complete to enable me to give a full view of last year's speculations; but, up to a given point, my account sales shew that Is to Is 2d in the grease, and Is 4d to Is 7d for washed, is likely to be pretty nearly the rates which have been obtained for Merino wool of the Wellington flocks. Of course where care has been taken in the breeding, and the getting up of the wool, a much better result ha, been obtained, but this has been the exception not the rule. Crossbred wool has been sold this season for Is 2s (washed), and only Is 3d is being offered for our ordinary Merino by one of our largest purchasers; but this, in the face of the cheering reports by the September Mail will prove to be too low. Cattle are still in demand j and the last sales of which I am cognisant were for beef (to ba delivered next month), 3^d, and store cattle £4 a head. Fat wethers (from a distance) are offered at £1, and breeding ewes are not offering freely j but will probably come into the market at £1 a head. Bacon and hams are dull of sale at 9d ; lard, owing to the high price ot butter, realises lOd. Butter is firm at Is 8d to Is 9d. Potatoes :—The early crop is beginning to come in. and stocks of old are heavy at.£s.
