ANGLING COMPETITIONS.
Tho annual " bare fly" fishing competition for two gold medals, presented by the Otago Acclimatisation Society, was held on the Waipahi River. Fifteen anglers entered, and eight, returns have been sent in,- as follows:—P. C. Murray, 16 fish, llib 2oz; J. Johnston, 9 fish, 111b; .T. Turnbull, 18 fish, 9!b 14oz; B. Hot, 11 fish, 91b; T. Tresler, 8 fish, 81b 2oz; J. Clement, 9 fish, 6|lb; T. Hayes, 14 fish, 61b lOoz; G. Johntsone, 5 fish, 51b; F. Ladewig. 6 fish, 41b 6oz. Mr Murray, having previously won tho first gold medal, is subject to a handicap of 30 per cent.. Another competition was held on the same river, open to members of the Otago Anglers' Association, for trophies. Six entries were received, and the following are tho rrtmLs:—P. C. Murray, 19 fish, 13|lb; 11. Jones, 27 fish, 13£lb; John Clements, 10 fish, 6Jd; G. Johnstone, 7 fish. 41b. There being no handicap in this competition, tho three first named are winners of trophies.
