BALCLUTHA Industrial Man-power Committee.—A sitting of the Industrial Man-power Committee for Otago —Messrs M. W. Grantham (chairman), A. McPherson, and H. H. Gilliard—was held at Balclutha on Friday. There was only one appeal, that of John Thomas Gibb (Houipapa). a single man, who had been directed by the Man-power Office to leave his farm and resume work as a sawmill hand. After evidence had been heard the appeal was allowed. Rugby Football.—O.M.R. and Clutha seniors played an informal match at Balclutha on Saturday, the result being a win for O.M.R. by 11 noints to 3. For Clutha, J. Mickie kicked a penalty goal, and tries were scored for O.M.R. by Barton, White and Hassett, Williamson converting one. Mr D. Inglis was the referee.—Crescent 111 defaulted to Clutha 111. Golf.—The Balclutha Chib’s Men’s Championships were advanced a further stage on Saturday, the first 18 holes being played. In the A Grade T. M. Thompson and J. Clark finished all square, while in the B Grade G. Ashcroft finished 2 up against O. Robinson. In the Knock-out Competition W. L. Dodds, R. Guest. S. Latta and C. Landrebe won by 7 default A. Marshall beat W. Sutherland and L. Edwards beat, L. V. Fowler.
