By Sentinel Nominations for the Dunedin spring meeting are due on Monday next. The Caulfield Cup will again carry a stake of £6.500, and £17.380 In stakes will be on the programme for the meetings on October 10 and 17. The A.J.C. Committee has decided that in future riders shall wear skull caps in schooling lessons and in all fast work. Some of Coronach's stock will be in the catalogue for the National Yearling Sales. Coronach won the St. Leger in 1926, following his win in the Derby. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club has contributed an additional £5050 to patriotic funds. This brings the total already contributed to £31,122. In addition, the club has £32,508 invested in war loans. The Marangai Handicap winner Yogi has not scored out of his turn. Last season he had two wins, a second, and three thirds in 12 starts. Yogi has, however, been racing in good company, where wins are not easy. Mr T. Duggan, secretary of the Vincent Jockey Club, states that the report that the club’s application for permission to race At Wingatui had been refused is not correct, as the application has not yet been considered. Representative, the winner of-the Avondale Guineas, is a brown colt by Nightmarch from Praise, by Limond— Eulogy. As a two-year-old Representative won twice and was second twice in seven starts. Amigo, who ran a close second to Yogi in the Marangai Handicap, has not won since the Avondale spring meeting of last season. On that occasion he won the Plumpton Handicap with 9.0 in 2min 9sec on a slow - track. Since then Amigo has started 14 times, the last eight without gaining a place. Balfron, the winner of tiie first division of the Pioneer Handicap, is a bay colt by Bulandshar—Legality. an imported mare bv Noblesse Oblige. Lord Luck, the winner of the second division, is a chestnut gelding by Cambria—Carmelia, by Bronze Eagle—Pebble Beach, by Potoa—Pebble 11, by Rock Flint. Sunblaze, the winner of the first division of the Maiden at Wanganui, is a. three-vear-old chestnut colt by Broiefort Sparkling Morn, by Hunting Song—Diamond Ring, by Kilboy. Farcical, the winner of the second division, is a three-year-old by Phaleron Bay—Droll, by Captain Bunsby—Deolatique, by Black Jester —Menthol, by St. Frusquin, the grand sire of Paper Money. The three-year-old gelding Beau Vaals, who won the Flying Handicap at the Wanganui meeting, was a good performer as a two-year-old, when he won four times, was second once, and third four times in 12 starts. He was got by Vaals from Limeen, by Limond—Molleem Vaals from Limeen, by Limond—Molleen Ogue, by Birkenhead—Mavourneen, by The Avondale Cup winner, Regal Fox, won three times last season in 16 starts, and also ran two seconds and two thirds. He won the Great Northern Guineas and the Great Northern Darby. Regal Fox was got bv Foxbridge—Golden Princess, by Lackham —Panette, by Panmure— Monette, bv Martian—Cuiralba, by Cuirassier. A sister to Regal Fox will be included in the catalogue for the national sales. Sun Chariot’s success in the St. Leger is not the first time the Royal colours have been carried to victory in the Yorkshire classic. In 1896 King Edward VII (then Prince of Wales) won with Persimmon, and he won again in 1900 with Dia-. mond Jubilee.
