OTAKI THEATRE.

THE GREAT McEWEN COY. Considerable interest is prevailing in the appearance of that prince of entertainers, The Great McEwen, at the Theatre next Tuesday. Since Mr McEwen last visited this town he has visited parts of the globe, and has taken advantage of the opportunity to perfect himself in the art of modern mesmerism, sleight of hand tricks, card manipulating, occult science and Oriental magic. With his hypnotic powers, The Great McEwen exercises complete control over his subjects, and he causes roars of laughter by the extraordinary antics of these subjects, principally in their endeavour to sing popular ballads. During Mr McEwen's visit to the Far East he was fortunate enough to discover Eric Ah Yeug, a young Chinese magician and cartoonist of the Imperial Court of Chinese Magicians. Ah Yeng is a born magician with a quiet, unassuming manner and strong personality. He is sure to receive a hearty welcome here from residents claiming to be of Chinese nationality. Mr W. A. Low, who is directing the tour, claims that these two artists will place before the public a programme of considerable magnitude that will secure the hearly approbation of all those who patronise this unique and mysterious entertainment. Patrons are advised to book their seats at Lowry's, where the plan is now weaving a prosperous appearance.
