Angling. — Mr W. J. Alpe's fishing register records the following takes : — Nov. 24: Mr P. Strain, six fish, averaging lib each, Avon; Master P. Campbell, six fish, Avon. Nov. 28: Christontirch angler, eight fish, Avon. Nov. 29: Mr J. W. Alpe, two fish, Avon. Dec. 2 : Mr A. Pateman, four fish, 161 b, Waimakariri. Dec. 3 : Mr A. Patematt, one fish, 61b, Waimakariri j Dec. 6, Mr E. Bates, 3 fish, 41bs, Avon ; Mr A..Tacon, Dec. 4 5 fish, Dec. ,5 1 fish, Dec.' 6 1 fish,; Avon.; Dee. 7, Mr A. Pateman, 1 fish, 4£lb, Waimakariri. On Dec!. 5 two anglers staying at Winchester caught 60 fish' m the day, and two others caught 12 and 15 respectively in the evening.
