Angling.— The following takes have been reported to Mr Alpe since Jan. 11 last : — Jan. 11 : A. Pateman, one fish, 41b. Jan. 15: W. Pateman, one fish, 2£lb. Jan. 17 : W. Pateman, one fish, 31b. Jan. 16: G. Trail, two fish. Jan. 17: GL Trail, one fish, 91b. Jan. 18: A. Pateman, one fish, 2lb; W. Pateman, two fish, 41b and 3£lb; C. Kaynor, three fish. Jan. 18: " Christchurch Angler," one fish, 51b; " Another Christchtirch Angler," two fish. All the foregoing were caught in the Waimakariri. Eecently a basket of seven fish, weighing 18}lb, was taken from the Opilii. Three anglers got eleven fish, weighing 211 b, the largest of which was 3£lb, from the Orari. The Kakaia is still unfavourable for fishing. The Waimakariri was in good order until Sunday, but was then flooded through the nov'wester of Saturday.
