METEOROLOGIST’S REPORT.
GALES AND HEAVY RAIN. The Dominion Meteorologist’s forecast:— Present indications are for north-west and south-west gales and boisterous weather, with heavy showers; rivers flooded on the West Coast and snow on high levels; barometer unsteady, but rising after about 20 hours. Masterton.—Mr R. Brown reports on the readings for the previous 24 hours: Shade temperature, maximum 56.8, minimum 45.4, terrestrial 39.4 rain 38 points, bright sunshine 3hrs snrin. Sfflway. Mr H. M. Boddington. reports that 42 points of rain were registered at Solway for the 24 hours up till 9 o ’clock yesterday morning. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain fell on 16 days in July, the maxinlum fall being 95 points on the 17th, and the minimum 1 point on the 20th. The total for the month was 3.91 inches, as against 1.34 (1920), 2.09 (1918), 5.31 (1917), 3.20 (1916). The rainfall for the, seven months was 16.30 inches, us compared with 22.40 (1920), 14.77 (1919), '23.50 (1918), 25.17 (1917), 19.07 $1916). The average for the seven months for the ten-year period 1906-1915 was 26.19 inches.
