NEW RUSH TO RICH GROUND IN THE WESTPORT DISTRICT. The Westpoi t Evening Star of Wednesday, January Bth, says : “ We have intelligence to-day of the discovery of new and very rich ground on the Caledonian Lead, and it is further stated that an extensive rush has taken place. Tbe news caused considerable excitement in town, and during the morning our merchants and storekeepers were busily engaged in sending away goods to tbe new rush. A considerable number of people have already left town to try their luck. Others an§ only waiting for further information. The new ground is supposed to be a continuation of the Caledonian Lead, and is extensive.” GOOD NEWS FROM THE BRIGHTON DISTRICT. The Brighton Times of January 4th, says : “ On the Dublin Terrace, Cameron and party have been doing well, their usual returns being from £4O to £6O per man a week. Shares have changed hands in this claim for £3OO and £350. It will take six months to exhaust the claim. Hanlon and party on the same terrace have most encouraging prospects before them. Fourteen to sixreen feet of payable sand is something to look at. lam informed that they are making £1.6 a week per man. A very healthy state of matters is observable on the Belfast and Daylesford Terraces, which still continue to maintain their population.’’
