The Thorough-bred Horse PACIFIC WILL be at the Wangaehu Hotel every Monday, leave on Tuesday morning and stand the remainder of the week at Rangitikei, where a good pad dock for mares will be provided at 2s 6d per week but no responsibility incurred. He will also be at Beaven’s Hotel, Lower Rangitikei, on each Monday. Traveller’s Rest, Tutaenui, on each Tuesday. Fern Flats, Western Rangitikei, on each Wednesday. Ben Nevis, Turakina, on each Thursday, Leaving Turakina on Friday for Bull’s. Terms—Single mares, £3 ; two or more mares, being bona fide the property of one owner, £2 10s. At AGNEW BROWN’S, Esq., Meaner, Hawke’s Bay, The thoroughbred imported Horse, GOWNSMAN. HE is six years old, and stands 16 hands ; he has great bone, and is very good-tempered. His sire Surplice won both the Derby and St. Leger, and his dam Tomyris was a very fine mare, who ran long distances with heavy weights. He is by Surplice, by Touchstone, out oi Crucifix ; out of Tomyris, by Sesostris, by Slane ; out of Palmyra, by Sultan. Asa three-year old he won three sweepstakes T Y C at Newmarket, and the Welter Handicap at Leamington, and was twice second besides. Asa fouryear old he won two Handicap Plates at Warwick, the Brighton Stakes (54 subs) and 24 horses started ; the Epsom fouryear old Stakes in a canter ; the County Members’ Plate at Nottingham (25 subs) \ and was second for the Sefton Handicap at Liverpool. He will serve a limited number of Mares, and as a good many are already promised, early application is necessary. Gownsman’s Cup, value 100 guineas, will be run for in 1872, provided he stand two seasons in the province. Also, a purse of 50 guineas for the best Gownsman hack at the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Society’s Show in 1872. terms : Teu Guineas for single Mares ; Eight Guineas for two ; Seven Guineas for three or more —the property of same owner.
