News has been received here reporting that attacks have recently be6n made by natives, in strong force, upon the fishing 1 stations at Flinders Island find Knight Island, near the coast, to the north of Cape Melville. At the former place the natives were completely repulsed, but the station at Knight Island was partially destroyed, and firearms and rations were carried off. It is feared that Mrs Watson, the wife of one of the owners of the Beche-de-mer fiishing stations on Lizard Island, has been murdered by the natives, who, it is believed, attacked and plundered the station on the 26th ult., and carried off Mrs Watson and her children during the absence of her husband and his partner. Search-parties, which were despatched from Cooktown to examine the coast, have not as yet found any traces of them. SYDNEY. November 9. In the Legislative Assembly last night, the adjourned debate on the report of the Royal Commission on the Millburne Creek Mine affair was resumed. In the course of the discussion, Sir Henry Parkes, the Premier, moved, That Mr E. A. Baker, late Minister of Mines, who was found by the report to have appropriated a portion of the compensation money, was unworthy of confidence, and should be expelled frem the House. The motion, after some discussion, was carried by a large majority, the voting being 17 to 2. Mr linker made a lengthy speech in his own defence, and the debate was finally adjourned to Thursday next, in order that the position of Mr Garrett, member for Camden, in connection with the inquiry, might be taken into consideration. A fresh case of small-pox in the city (Argyle-street) was reported to the Board of Health yesterday.
