The members of the Northern Club to- • night gave a ball at the Club in honour of l the visit of the Governor and Countess of Ranfurly to) Auckland. Elaborate preparations were made at the Club for the ball, over 400 invitations being issued. A batch of ten co-operatives are being sent to the North Island Trunk Railway at l .Poro-o-tarao Tunnel. There is a movement to light the township bf Otahuhu with electricity. The Devenport Ferry Company has decided not to send the tug Admiral in search of.the Perthshire. The Four In Hand returns from 60 tons, £280 worth of gold; the Royal Oak re-' turns 127 tons of bullion valued at £251. The Tonson Garlic Company has de- I clared' a dividend of ten. per cent .
