SHOCKING MINE DISASTER.
SEVENTEEN MEN FALL 700 FEET
(United Press Association—Copyright.) Received September 22, 4.46 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 21. A cage containing 17 miners was being hauled up the shaft ,of a .mine attached to Jones and McLaughlinTs steel works, Michigan, when, through some gear giving way, it fell 700 feet to the bottom.
