THE WEBB-TRESSIDER MATCH.
Champion Webb was out on the river I on Boxing Day in his new skiff, which ; looked very light and easy. Webb likes his new boat, and was pulling what a free, graceful stroke. ; Tressider left Sydney yesterday by j the 5.6. Moeraki and should be in Wan- \ ganui by the end of the week. Fred : Ford, a promising young sculler, will accompany the challenger, and will act as pacemaker during his training. A man is also to accompany Tressider to man is also accompany Tressider to perform tho necessary rubbing down . business. ■
The Australian intends to have a big fight for victory and by all appearance he does not mean to be behindhand with his training for the race.
Webb, who has been staying for a few weeks in the country, has returned to toAvn and intends starting his training at once. Since the champion returned from Sydney he seems to have improved a great deal. His style is much smarter than before the match with G. Towns. Webb, who is only too glad to be advised, has put into practice a few hints given him by Jim Stanbury, and the result is an allround improvement in his style. The boats are at the new shed at Aramoho, and it will be from here that Webb will do all his training until a fortnight before the match, when he will camp up the river.
