POLITICAL LABOUR LEAGUE.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
(Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, December 29. TJie annual conference of the Political Labour League' affirmed that the principle of the right to obtain work should bo extended to every citizen, and that it bo the duty of the State to provide work for eevry citizen who applies for it.
sfc Avas resolved that the Government should provide free doctors and medicine for the people. It was moved, and carried amidst applause, that the Old Age Pension Act ba amended by increasing the pensions to at least 12s. 6cT. per weok, and making it payable at 60 years of age, and unconditional in all respects except as to the time of residence.
A motion by the President to revert to the original plank of the League's platform regarding land leform was neigatived by 7 to 4
Ifc was resolved that this Conference con^emus tlie action of the Minister of Education in sanctioning the flogging of sirls.
The incoming executive were empowered to appoint a colonial organiser to organi?o thoi workers throughout the country, in the interests of the Political Labour League. It was decided that the next Conference be held1 in Auckland' next Christmas. •
