A GUIDE MISSING.

WELLINGTON, December 30. This afternoon Mr. T. E. Donne- re? ceived a telegra-m stating that George Napier, a porter at the Mount Cook Hermitage, is missing. It is feared •that when he was returning from Ball Haut last evening with some horses he fell from _ his horse while crossing the Hooker River. His hat was found early this morning some distance below the ford. A thorough search is being made by Mr. D. McDonald, manager of the Hermitage.

DUNJEDIN. December 30. Mrs. Allen, wifle of Mr. E. G. Allen, M.P. for Port Chalmers, died yesterday, in her 62nd' year. The clause of death was 'pneumonia. *
