THE SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
TRESIDDER GOI'XG WELL.
(From Sydney "Referee's" Own
Correspondent.)
NEWCASTLE, December 23. _ Dick Tresidder, who is to row William Webb for the sculling championship of the world on the" Wanganui River on February 20, continues to put in satisfactory work, and he is very hopofiU_of being able to win back the ■titlo for New South Wales. His second 'boat came to hand from Chris. Neilson tho other day, and h© is now well equipped, as far as his racing outfit is concerned. Dick has not yet made up his mind definitely when he will leave for New Zealand, but it will be early in the New Year. The appeal for contributions to the stake money is -t'M being made, and, judging from the promisee of support already .received, tho local committee do not anticipate -that there will be much trouble in collecting the necessary amount. This will relieve Dick of all further mnxiety, and he will be able to go on with his training with a light heart. So far ho has made splendid headway in his preparation, and by the time he .leaves hero he will havo very little superfluous flesh to bring off. [As stated in last issue, Tresidder left by the Moeraki on Sundiny, and should' Tb'e here by the end of the week.—Ed. "Chronicle."]
