WELLINGTON, December 7. Following is the High Commissioner's cable, dated London, oth December, 1903:- , •■> ..■ •. ... The mutton market ts quiet, although stock is small. Canterbury brands are quoted, at 3?d; North Island .34d Per lb. „ , , ' . The lamb market is dull, and there is scarcely any demand. Canterbury lamb is quoted at s*d ; other than Canterbury 5d nominal. The beef market is dull. Supplies of River Plate chilled beef are heavy. Prices are firm for Home killed beef on account of the quarantine enforced against America. New Zealand beef is being held for a rise in price. Current quotations: 3 o-8d hindquarters, 3^d forequarters. The butter market is quiet, but rather steadier. There is more demand. Current quotations: Choicest New. Zealand butter 109s, Danish IBs, Australian 106s, Siberian 105s per cwt. . The cheese market is dull. Holders aro ■firm. New Zealand makes are quoted at 56s and Canadian at 61s per cwt. The hemp market is quiet, with small business doing, and: there is no change in prices. The stock in London amounts to 248 tons. Tho past week's output from Manila amounted to 21,000 bales.

The cocksfoot seed market is quiet; nominal quotation £3s per cwt. There is a great improvement in the hop market. A scarcity of best quality is anticipated on account of the general active demand at 85s per; cwt. Amerir can hops are quoted at 63s per'cwt for besf.

The wool market is firm,' with an upward tendency. For inferior qualitj tho'-price is rather unsettled . . The following shipments arrived from River Plate during tho month of November: —For London 118,466 mutton. 7696 lamb; for Liverpool, 108,161 and 3415; Hull, 10,802 and nil; Southampton 6198 and nil; Cardiff, 16177 and 41; Newcastle, 9570 and nil. • River Plate mutton is quoted at 3 l-8d per lb. Thjo market is dull on account of* heavy arrivals. 9244 cwt. of butter arrived in London and Southampton from River Plate, quoted at 105s cwt.
