CAPETOWN, December 7. The Capetown correspondent of the "Standard" gives details of the failure of Herr Dernburg, German Director of Colonial Affairs, to secure Walfisch Bay, either permanently or for a term, in return for a concession to a British company to construct a railway. Mr. Merriman and General Botha resented,.the overtures, which were made without the knowledge of the Imperial Government.
