MOMAHAKI NOTES.

(Fiom Our Own Correspondent.)

Tho concert and dance in tho local hall on Friday, the 4th, in a:d of the school prizo fund, proved a great success. A grand night, good programme, and Bi bumper house resulted in tho takings, sale of tickets, and money at1 tho door, amounting to over £23. Too much praiso cannot be given to Miss Hartlett (head teacler) and Miss Hamerlon (assistant) for the time and troub'e they have gone to. to say nothing of txpenso in preparing the childreii for their different parts. The resu't was an eye-operer to all who at-" tended tho concert, one and all expressing the opinion that the performance would tako a lot of beating in a large town. I am quito certain r the school committee and parents can congratulate themselves on Laving such energetic teachers. I hear, that the annual school picnic will b? held on -Friday, the 18th December, at the State Farm (if permission is given), and. that the children and parents of the Mangawhio school1 have been asked to join and make a good day of, it; £0 we must hope for a fino ■day. t., - - - Somo verj' welcome rain fell this morniufi. bnt stopped again all too soon as,th« ground is getting very dry, ami rain is much ne:ded for the young crops as well as grass. Tho Rev Mr Humphrey, of .Aramoho, will celebrate. Holy Communion here, on Sunday week, 20th inst. It will bo the fhst service taken ■ hero -by the .new vicar
