LATE TELEGRAMS.

(Per Press Association.) Tho following is the gist of late wires received last "evening:— In connection with the death of Na-than'-Burnett, who died in the police cells early yesterday morning, the Jewish Rabbi in Dunedin (Rev A. T. Cho-dowe-ki) complained to the Benevolent Trustees yesterday that the. manager of the Institution (Mr Mcc) had not shown proper attention to duty in that ho left deceased in the polico cell all night, although he (Mr Mcc) knew deceased suffered from heart disease. Mr Mcc stated that he had done everything .possible when ho found Barnett was missing from the institution and that lie had arranged with tho police to keep Barnett at the station, ii he was found at too late an hour for his return to the institution. The Trustees asked Mr Chodowski to make a formal complaint, and the matter would be thoroughly sifted. Light rain fell during the latter part of yesterday afternoon.: but otherwise conditions were splendid for the Southland' Show, the takings constituting a record. The Premier and Mr Justice .Williams were present. •
