TO BE OPENED THIS AFTERNOON.
The Wanganui Municipal tramways will be opened at 2.30 this--afternoon. Tho ceremony will take place at the car-shed, where the Mayor, the member for the district, and the chairman of the Tramways Committee will deliver speeches. The carshed will then be opened, and the guests (member«s of" tne adjpinfng local bodies and officials) will bo given a ride over the tram route. On the return of the cars tho ten-minute service which it is proposed to run will be inaugurated, and the public will be carried at the ordinary rdtes (tho scale of which is given below). Owing to the fact that official sanction of the opening of the service was not received till yesterday afternoon, short notice has been unavoidable.
