Agnew, Esq., Balwherrie, Leswalt; Stranraer ,and was purchased recently b; r his present owner when on a visit to Scotland. Handsome Prince (Knieht of the Thistle's sire) is by the world-renowned Princa of Wales (673, 5.C.5.8.) who was the greatest horse of the century. Prince of Wales gained many prizes, including first prizes at the H.- and A. Show at Edinburgh in 1869, at the Royal Society s Show, Manchester, in the same year, again taking the premiership at the firstnamed Society's Show, held at Kelso .in J 1872. Prince of Wales lived until 23 years of age. At the age of 18 he was t sold by public auction for £945, and" he was once leased for the season for £1,000, when his fee was 40 guineas each mare. J The dam of Kandscme Prince is the celebrated Darnley (222, S.;C.S.B ) mare ( Pandora and her breeding is unsurpassed, her 'sire5 being the best Clydesdale ever bred. Amongst the many successes gained by Knight of the Thistle's Stock the following may be mentioned :— MARCEIAUS' prize list to date is.: Ist as a yearling at Hastings,-and Ist and reserve champion at Palmerston North, also as a yearling; the only times shown, as he met with an accident com- j ing to Wanganui, so could not ahow him again that year. At two years, Ist at Wanganui, Ist New Plymouth, and Ist ' and champion at Masterton, beating such horses as Baron Graceful (imp.) and Bancor (imp.).
