Lord Kitchener is at Singapore. He is about to journey to Java. Mr G. V. Pearce, M.P., has been unanimously re-elected Chairman of the Patea Harbour Board.
The death is announced at Thames of Heta Rewiti (David Stewart), aged 40. He was a member of the Maori football team which toured Britain, and was the owner of a considerable area of native land. He was well known in sporting circles, being the owner of several prominent racehorses. A London cable says that Lieutenant Adams, one of the members of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s expedition, has been appointed superintendent of one of the six principal Labour Exchangs. The appointments include two Transvaal retrenched civil servants.
