GASLIGHT SPORTS.
On Thursday night the Foxton A.A. Association held gaslight sports in the Victorian Park, the chief event being the Sheffield handicap of £40. Representatives from Auckland, the Wairarapa, and other parts of. the Dominion competed. There were in all 28 entrants, 21 of whom went to the post. With such a list the race was run off m heats, and semi-finals. The final resulted: J. E. Johnson 1, S Clarke 2, T. Hal! 3. (Time not available). Perhaps one of the most highly appreciated events of the evening, from It, spectacular poi^t of view1, was v 120 yards race for visiting scullers, nearly e%ery one of whom entered. The ra-co was rim in heats, and all started from scratch. The following are tne .results:— _ ■ First Heat.—Hagney 1, Larsen 2, F. J. Green 3- ' , T ■ „ Second Heat.—Felton 1, £a\yson 2, Third Heat.—Mitchell 1, Webb 2.
