The Star of Scotland left Wellington at 5.5 p.m. yesterday, so should arrive in the roadstead early this morning. The Arapawa was to leave at' 11 o'clock last night, so should be able to Ret in to-morrow. The Stormbird and the Huia are also expected from Wellington to-day. The Taviuni. after a tow by the Terawhiti of 530 miles from Westport, arrived safely at Otago Heads early on Wednesday morning, and was taken tip to Dunedin. Altluragh the Taviuni was eighteen months on the beach at Westport, she did not show outside evidences of her enforced rest, having been scaled and painted while ashore. A glance aft, however, says the "Otago Daily Times,"- showed that she is a •* lame duck," .as she came into port steered--by a.wooden rudder fitted to a wooden stern-post. . } ■

Efforts are neine made, according to the " Dunedin Times," ;to effect a settlement of tlie impending litigation between the Otago Dock Trust and 1 Messrs Scott Brothers, the dock contractors. Tlie main basis of the proposal is that the Dock Trust shall forego the infliction of penalties for delay in completion of work, and that the contractors shall forego the claim of £20,000 compensation for alleged failure to provide a dredge for excavation purposes. The proposal is said to be viewed unfavourably .by tlio Trust.
