THE TROUBLE INCRCEASING.
SYDNEY, December G. Mr H. M. Hughes, President of the
Miners' Federation^ declares that the arrests will enormously complicate the
situation
The Railway and Tramway Association has refused to countenance a general strike mania or a Bowling type of leader. In voting money for strike purposes the Association earmarked it for specific use.
All the leaders arrested were bailed ouv within a few hours. The offence is alleged to have been committed on November oth. ' Tins was the date on which the Delegate Board recommended the strike.
The police visited the Trades Hall and secured a large number of documents and the minute book relating to the proceedings on November sth, when a mass meeting of miners was held at Newcastle,, and was addressed by Mr Bowling and other leaders. The meeting passed a resolution condemning, tho Government's action. Everything passed off quietly.
