LOCAL RESOLUTIONS.
On Sunday last, in addition to the churches mentioned in our yesterday's issue, the Trinity Wesleyan and Primi, tivo Methodist Churches passed resolutions of protest against the provision of ran/teens in the military camps proposed to be established1 Under' the Defence Bill now before Parliament. The motion passed by the congregation of Trinity Church.was -as follows :■—■, .... .
" That in the opinion, of. this congregation any Bill providing for the military training of the young men of this Dominion will be unsatisfactory unless provision is made. for. the-entive abolition of the' canteen- for- the supply of intoxicating liquors in connection wrbh all military gatherings, it therefore ujaes the Premier and the Defence Minister and the members of the House to amend the Defence Bill now before Parliament in. this direc-
tion."
The congregation of the Primitive Methodist Church carried the following resolution: —
" That this congregation of the Wanganni Primitive Methodist. Church most emphatically protests against the proposed provision for canteens in military encampments now before .-•..the. House of Representatives, feeling aßsured that the young men of New Zealand are sufficiently patriotic to be willing^ to be trained for the defence of their country withoiit the degrading iand unnecessary inducement of intoxicating liquors in their camps."
