THE INCREASED DUTIES
CHAOS DENIED
LONDON, December 6
Tho ■chairman of the Board of Customs denies- that there is any chaos in bulk clearances, owing to the higher rates imposed by the Budget. He adds that the" tea trade has decided to continue as if nothing had happened.
The "" Daily News " asserts that despite the official arrangement, tobacco and spirits are being cleared without tho payment of the increased duty, though, tea merchants generally are abiding by the Association's decision. Some are arranging wholesale clearance duty free for tea.
