SOME STRAIGHT TALK

A meeting of first-class county captains at Lord's passed a resolution expressing regret that' a certain section of the Press was exploiting cricket in an unworthy manner. Mr Fry, representing the Authors' Club, complained of tho tendency to introduce into tho cricket atmosphere bitter personal criticism. It was no disgrace to be beaten by the Australians, and he had never seen such an exhibition of bad losing as had been shown by a large section of the British Press.. ■■■■■• ■■■■■■ Mr Spofforth ■ supported Mr Fry's protests against running down players. Mr Jackson said the triangular contests of 1912: would ' be spectacularly attractive, and he was coming to the view that from an imperial standpoint the experiment should be'tried.
