THE CASE FOR THE CROWN

RYDNEY, December 13
The hearing of the charges against Messrs Bowling, Brennan, Burns, Lewis, and Grey has commenced at Newcastle. There was a great crowd of strikers inside and outside the Court, but no demonstration was made.
The Crown charges the five accused with being ■. persons of evil minds and dispositions, who unlawfully and wickedly conspired, ■combined, and confederated to instigate the employees, coalminers, wharf labourers, coal-lumpers, and coaltrimmers to do and act in the nature of a strike. By tha assistance of documents from the Trades Hall and elsewhere the accuseds' connection with events which led to the strike were
