PERSONAL.

Dr Trevor, of Ashburton, is reported to be in a critical state of health. Mr F. W. B. Greville of Wellington, is at present in town, and is staying at Chavannes’ Hotel.

Mr and Mrs W. H. Bird, who have been in England for some considerable time, returned home yesterday afternoon.

Dr J. Miller, late house surgeon of the Wanganui Hospital, has arranged to practice in Waverley, and will, consequently, leave Wanganui at an early date.

Mr D. Crease, a traveller for Messrs Ballinger Bros., of Wellington, was thrown out of a gig at Pahiatua yesterday morning, sustaining concussion of the brain, the base of his skull being fractured. He was taken to the hospital, but there is little hope of his recovering. He has a wife and family in Wellington. Mr J. Ryburn, who was on Tuesday licensed by the Wellington Presbytery as a minister of the church, has decided to enter the mission field. The Presbyterian Church of New Zealand has recently decided to open a mission of its own in India, instead of working in conjunction with British missions as formerly, and it is to this work that the Rev Mr Ryburn seeks to be appointed. Mr Ryburn, who is well known in Wanganui, is a native of Auckland, and is a brother of the Rev R. M. Ryburn, of Invereargill, and late of Wan-

ganui.
