SYDNEY, December 15
Mr Witt, the chief officer of the mail liner Piauen, •accidentally fell overboard when ths steamer was 20 miles oft: tho coast on the voyage from New CaCledonia to Sydney. A lifebuoy was thrown, which he got hold of, and a .boat was lowered, but Witt evidently was taken hold of by a large shark.
