BRITAIN'S LOST OPPORTUNITIES

Lord Eanfurly, speaking at the Colonial Institute, said that it was inevitable that the opening of the Panama Canal would make a great change in trade routes. But Britain had not taken full advantage of ths opportunities afforded in the? Pacific Islands to secure suitable, harbours. They refused to annex tho islands even where the peoplo asked.
