This was the keynote of a short discussion which took place at the meeting of the Melbourne Master Farriers' Association a few days ago Professor Gilruth, of the University, was present, and briefly referred to th* necessity of "higher education" in connection with the farriers' business. He laid stress upon the necessity for taking combined action, with a view of bringing about amproremipnlts, and pointed out that unless the master faririers were agreed amongst themselves action to assist the business would be difficult. He also spoke in favour of tho Bill now beifore Parliament relating to the farriers' trade. Subsequently a "demonstration" on the principles of horse shoeing was given by Mr W. T. Kingston, of New Zealand. Mr W. Stiles, the secretary, intimated that active steps are being taken with the view of infusing a little more life into the association.
