SIR JOSEPH WARD AT THAMES.
THAMES, June 1. Sir Joseph Ward addressed a crowded i meeting in the King's Theatre to-n%ht despite the fact that rain fell hard all the evening. The 'Mayor (Mr. H. ■Lowq) presided. The speaker received a splendid! hearing, his remarks being punctuated with appLause. His speech was on the lines of others he has delivered in different parts of the country At the conclusion of the speech Sir Joseph Ward received an ovation for some considerable time. On the motion of Mr F. H. Claxton, ex-Mayor, tho following resolution was earned by acclamation : That this meeting of inhabitants of Thames thanks Sir Joseph Ward for his interesting and instructive address, and expresses its con- ' fidenee m him as, Leader of the Liberal party in New Zealand, and trusts that ho will secure si majority at the nest election.
