SUGGESTED DEMONSTRATION OF PROTEST BY CATHOLICS.
(Per Press Association.) " NEW PLYMOUTH, June 29. '
At a large meeting held last night in the Roliand Hall (called after Father Holland, who was with, Major Yon Tempsky at the disaster near Ha<wero in 1868), one of Jshe speakers urged the sending of a huge deputation of Roman Catholics from all parts of New Zealand to march to Parliament, the same as the prohibition party had done, in order to protest against the desires of the Bible ie Schools League.
It was stated that there were about tea thousands persons in Taranaki who objected to the violation of the rights of conscience, and the speaker in question felt sure that a hundred objectors from Taranaki alone would make the sacrifice to attend any such deputation.
The suggestion was adopted with enthusiasm.
