THE TIMARU WHARF FATALITY.

The inquest on Archibald Campbell, who was fatally injured at the wharf on Thursday last by the fall of a heavy : lift from the Waiwera, was completed: to-day. No further light was thrown on the breakage of the rope securing the leading block at the mast-head. Witnesses considered that ample strength had been provided. No evidence was given as to where the doubled rope snapped. In two places it was fixed by a stevedore and the ship's lamp. trimmer. A verdict of accidental death, and the evidence did not show who was responsible for the carrying away of the gear, was returned. Tho funeral of the deceased took place this afternoon. All shipping work was suspended, and the following wae one ot the largest eyer seen here for people afoot, watersiders, railway men, members of cricket clubs (deceased was the secretary of the Celtic Club), football, ers and Foresters following.
