Following the first attempt Count Harrack stood on the footboard of the car when leaving the Town Hall m or-. rder to protect the Archduke from turther attacks whereon the prince joked •with Harrack. When the shots were fired it was at first thought the royalties liad again escaped. An examination, however, :evealed that the Archdukes windpipe was torn, and the Duchess had r. large vein in her abdomen severed. Both bled to death. Troops were called out to quell the anti-Servian demonstrations, and martial law was proclaimed. Gabrienovie was expelled from Serajevo two years ago, but returned on the intervention of a Socialist member of the 'Diet. . . . A number of Servian students, when they heard the news, exclaimed, "Thans God. we will not need to do it ourselves." All were arrested as •jasThe Governor, who was in the Archduke's motor, states he was -unaware that anything serious had occurred. The Duchess collapsed against her husband. He thought she had fainted. The Archduke exchanged a few words with her in a low voice. When the Governor turned from giving instructions to the -chauffeur the Archduke was still up-rio-ht- with his mouth full of blood. SERAJEVO. June 29. n When Frinaip consummated his crime, the Governor, in the Archduke's motor, was uninjured. _ VIENNA, June 29. It is stated that the bombs were manufactured in a Servian gun factory.
