VIOLIN CLASSES
NEW STYLE VIOLINS—AN IMPROA 7ED AND VALUED INVENTION. Attention is directed to tho special advertisement iin another column, by Mr. J. L. Beck, the well known violinist and teacher of music, who, at his studio, is arranging classes for beginners; on a new rational system, .and at spec's! moderate fees. A new invention has come into the market in the shape of a hollow-stopped resonant fingerboard. By this means the dreaded difficulties of acquiring intonation and learning are j done away with, playing in tune becomes easy and certain. It is claimed that any chili or adult may obtain immediate success, and testimonials are shown from many of the foremost people i;i the world's musical profession. It is also endorsed by the remarkable successes of the Australian Violin and Orchestral College, Melbourne, demonstrating by the examination results of tho Associated Board in that city, that what was considered a reasonable accomplishment in six years may be at-tained-in six quarters! This aid to the violin is simply what the keyboard is to the piano ; nothing is detracted from tho aitistry of playing, but more facility ar.d time is gamed for its culiiwition. Mr. Beck has secured the agency of (.he Manby Violin Patents Co., Melbourne, for these instruments, and in conjunction with their use is arranging clashes for beginners winch will ho conducted i:pon the methods adopted by (Jontinentu! schools. AV'hile in Belgium recently Mr. Beck had special oppov-, tunity of studying the scheme of "class progress at the famous Royal Conservatorium of Music in Brussels. These classes oLould prove tin acquisition as a nursery for the musical societies of tho town, and an incentive to future advanced study for budding talent or genius amengst young aspirants. Should the inducement of local patronage be afforded demonstrauons will be given in thp noz-r istnro by punil.s' recitals .ami orchestral concerts. The Mcuiby violins, also violoncellos and violas, cost no more than tlie ordinary instrument, and are made in sizes to .suit from tho smallest child up to adult. AYe wish Mr. Beck success in the educational work he lias so much at heart. The newer method and i;nprovc-iiien(s fJioulc! materially supplement his past years of successful experience. Caller.,, or letters addressed to the Violin and Orchestral Studio, 94. Victoria Avenue, will receive prompt attention. Apart from intending pupils. Mr. Beck will receive orders from anyone desiring to possess enc of these violins or :cellos.
