THE HOUSING PROBLEM.
A year or more ago the committee authorised a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Hope Gibbons and A. Burnett to proceed with the erection of one dwelling on' one of the Association's sections. For various reasons the committee did not proceed. I am of op" lion that the time has now arrived when we should help to meet the great demand for housing. Our returned soldiers in particular require our assistance. I propose that the subcommittee be authorised to proceed with the building of three of our sections, and that Mr. A. Bignell bo added to the sub-committee. The finance, as you must bo aware, would be safe. The Government are purchasing houses for soldiers up to £900, so that if required we could so arrange for purchase by the returned soldier with Government assistance.
The report was adopted unanimously, subject to the formal Order-in-Council being obtained.
