Archdeacon Reeve and Mrs. Reeve are to be fare welled by the parisho tiers Of Christ Church at a gathering to be held at the Returned Soldiera’ Club this evening.

At a meeting of the directors the “Wanganui Chronicle” Co. Lf'.held yesterday, Mr. T. Currie pr* seated Mr. W. G. Rees-Jones, managing director, who is leaving for England and the U.S.A., with a pocket wallet, as a token of their esteem. They also expressed the wish that ho w r ould have a pleasant voyage ami return fully restored to health. Mr. Rees-Jones leaves for Englan I by the Rotorua.

Leading Wanganui swimming officials foregathered last evening to bid farewell to Mr H. Lc vest am, and in the course of several happy speeches tribute was paid to the services rendered to swimming by the guest. Mr Levcstam, w’ho leaves for Christchurch at midday to-day, was the recipient of a presentation from the gathering as a mark of their esteem. Major and Mrs. Wallace, who have been in command of the WanganuiTaranaki Division of the Salvation Army for a number of years, Jett on Tuesday for Christchurch io take charge of the division there. The local division will be commanded by Major Macauley, of Christchurch, who arrives here next week. Mr. J. J. Parkes, district agent for the National Mutual Insurance office* has received advice of his promotion to Auckland in the saiuti capacity. During their long residence in Wanganui Mr. and Mrs. Parkes have gathered round them a large circle of friends, who, while learning with pleasure of Mr. Parkes’ transfer to a larger sphere of activity will sincerely regret their departure. Mr. H. L. Levestam, who for the past eight years has been manager of the Wanganui branch of the Gov< eminent Life and Accident Insurant Department, and who is about to leave to take over the management of the Christchurch office, was yesterday farewelled by the members of the local staff. In presenting Mr. Levestam with a case of Loewe pipes, Mr. Shearsman, chief clerk, referred to the high esteem in which the departing manager was held by all members of both the office and outside staffs. The best of good fellow-, ship had always existed between them, and all hands desired that their best wishes for his future success and happiness should be conveyed to one who had proved himself n ot only a highly capable, but a kindly* courteous and considerate chief. Mr. Shearman’s sentiments were heartily endorsed by Messrs Muller, Dawson and Brookie. Mr. Levestam suitably acknowleged the gift and the kindly sentiments with which ri had been conveyed to him.
