AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION
QUEEN CARNIVAL AND STOCK DRIVE. EXECUTIVE MEETING. The Wanganui Agricultural Association’s carnival executive met last evening. There were present —Messrs G. S. Vance (chair), G. C. Glenn, J. R. Franklin, J. Blair, A. R. Donaldson, C.i G. Young, and B. C. Smith. Queen Candidates.—lt was that in the Queen Carnival, to open about the middle of September, there be four queen candidates —one to represent the Waitotara County, one to represent the Wanganui County, one to represent the Wanganui citizens, and i.J represent the Wanganui sports bodies. The names of the four condidates were decided as follows: —Waitotara County Queen, Wanganui County Queen, Citizens’ Queen and Sports Queen. In order to put the scheme into operation, it was decided that conveners in the Waitotara and Wanganui Counties be appointed, to arrange dates to support the two county candidates. A sub-committee was appointed to wait upon the local sports bodies with regard to the Sports Queen, and it was decided to later on- 45 all a public meeting to deliberate upon arrangements for supporting a Citizens’ Queen and later a huge bazaar to open in Draffin’s garage on Wednesday, November 5. STOCJK DRIVE. Canvassing Committees reported good progress in connection with the stock drive. The following additional donations were announced:— No. 2 Line. —H. G. Lewis, £3; D. Neilsen, cattle; G. McLeod, sheep or cattle; J. G. Caird, cash donation; S. Strachan, heifer; A. D. Mackintosh, five fat ewes; Len Higgle, £5; John Wilson and A. Duxfield, one bacon pig; H. Hogg, £1 and one dog; D. McGregor, one cow; John Gray, £2 2s; J. Hogg, £2. Fordell.—Don. Sutherland, £1 Is; R. Christie, trap horse-; R. Sharpe, two porkers; J. Glasgow, stock; C. Higgle, stock; W. C. Lee, cow and calf; R. Taylor, sheep; J. Pennefather, two heif ers; Ray Sutherland, £2 2s: Dave Higgle, stock; Geo. Phillips, 30 fat sheep; A. E. Flyger, half-dozen purebred fowls; G. Hillas, fat ewes; E. J. Dickenson, stock; G. L. B. Williams, £1: E. G. Hutchens, £1; F. Tilley, £5; A. Hall, heifers. Raorikia.—Clem Connor, three fat sheep. It was decided that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Blair, Smith and Farley be appointed to arrange the droving. The secretary was instructed to endeavour to get all persons to define stock donations, so that droving arrangements could be made as early as possible.
