Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, June 4, 4 pm. General Situation.—Pressure is very uniform over the New Zealand area, but a shallow depression i-ap pioaching from the west. Barometers are high over Tasmania. Forecast.—Winds: Light to moderate and variable, with south-south-east predominating. Seas (New Zealand waters): Smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate and variable with west to south winds prevailing; seas smooth to moderate. Weather: Fine over the northern part of the North Island, elsewhere cloudy and rather unsettled, with scattered, but mainly light rain, mist or fog in many places. Temperatures cold. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 3 hours. Rainfall, trace. Shade temperature: Maximum, 56 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 48 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for June: Last quarter, June 6; new moon, June 13; first quarter, June 21; new moon, June 28.
