WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, June 6, 4 p.m. General Situation. —An anti-cyclone covers the Tasinan and extends over the South Island, while a slight depression was situated over northern New Zealand to-day. Forecast. —Winds: Moderate to strong easterly to south-easterly north of Kawhai and East Cape, elsewhere light to moderate southeasterly to southerly. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough north of East Cape, and a moderate southerly swell thence southwards; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south-east to south winds and smooth to moderate seas. Weather: For the most part fair, but cloudy with scattered showers or misty rain in the Auckland province, also at scattered places in eastern districts, especially of the North Island. Temperatures cold. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 4 hours 50 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Shade temperature: Maximum, 60 deg. Fahr.; minimum, 36 deg. Fahr. Phases of the Moon for June:* Last quarter, June 6; new moon, June 13; first quarter, June 21; new moon, June 28.
