LINER MONTEREY

NON-UNION CREW. MATTER BEING DISCUSSED. [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, June 6. Advice has been received by Mr. Walsh, president of the New Zealand Seamen’s Union, that the Matson liner, Monterey, which left Los Angeles on May 31 with 5000 tons of cargo for discharge at Auckland and Sydney, was loaded by non-union labour under police supervision. He says that according to his information the officers and crew refused to take the ship to sea, and she was manned by a nonunion crew. Tire Monterey is due at Auckland on June 15, and the matter is being discussed by the industrial unionists.
