Forecast.—Winds: Southerly, light to moderate and freshening somewhat from Cook Straight northwards. Seas (New Zealand •waters): Rather rough between Cape Campbell and East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southwesterly to southerly winds and moderate seas. Weather: Mainly fair in western districts from Taranaki southwards, elsewhere cloudy with scattered and mainly light rains. Cold temperatures. The New Zealand Friends’ School, St. John’s Hill, report for 24 hours ending 6 p.m. yesterday: Bright sunshine, 5 hours 30 minutes. Rainfall, nil. Shade temperature: Maximum, 56 dog. Fahr.; minimum, 38 deg. Fahr. * Phases of the Moon for June: Last quarter, June 6; new moon, June 13; first quarter, June 21; new moon, June 28.
